Netflix's new zombie apocalypse series 'Black Summer' is prequel to 'Z Nation'

Netflix have just dropped the first trailer for their brand new zombie series and people are comparing it to The Walking Dead, back when the show was still good and not the steaming pile of plop it turned into.

Black Summer is the prequel to Z Nation but while Z Nation had a more comedic vibe, Black Summer is going to be more of a traditional zombie series. The series is based around Rose, played by Jamie King, as she searches for her daughter in a post apocalyptic wasteland after a zombie outbreak. The trailer looks pretty awesome. Take a look:

Black Summer is referred to in Z Nation as the summer where everything went to hell, so that is where Black Summer picks up. This show is not tongue-in-cheek, it’s very, very serious: it’s as if the zombie apocalypse really happened in 2018 and explores what that would be for all of us.

It’s a very unique style that I think people will really respond to.It’s only told from the point of view of the characters – we don’t learn anything that the characters don’t and it’s fantastically shot. The dynamics of the way that they have crafted the storytelling is very cinematic and I think people will really respond to it.

I’m well up for this. Roll on 10th April when it hits Netflix!
