He's a hero in Argentina and you'll find very few Barcelona fans with a bad word to say about him either, but it's in Naples where the love is most intense.
He joined Napoli from Barca in 1984 for a then-world record fee of £7m. He went on to score 115 goals in 259 appearances for the club, and in 1987 led them to their first ever Serie A title.
To mark the 30 year anniversary of that triumph, Copa90 spoke to his adoring Neopolitan public.
Wow. Probably safe to say he'll never have to pay for a drink or a line down there for as long as he lives.
