Dude lists house on eBay for £1 after row with estate agent
Buying and selling houses has always been a bit of a ballache. Dealing with arrogant estate agents and the cretins that come to view your house with absolutely zero intention of buying, isn't much fun, but sadly it comes with the territory.
However, one dude was so livid with his estate agents and their inhability to sell his house, that he decided to take matters into his own hands. Chris Pollitt didn't believe his agent agents were worth the fees they were charging for listing his house so to get back at them for being useless he put the house up for sale on eBay for just £1. Explaining why he took such drastic measures, Chris had this to say:
I’m just sick and tired of dealing with all the dickheads that my local estate agents are sending round. It seems like most of the people coming around have no intention of buying the place - one family brought some sandwiches and just sat in the pool eating them and catching some rays before leaving. I never heard from them again and most of the people they are sending round are exactly the same.I wanted to prove that all their extra fees are completely unnecessary by selling the house myself on eBay. It was easy - I just uploaded the pictures and description and the whole thing was over and done with in about ten minutes. There’s already been significant interest and I feel like there are more serious people looking at it than anyone the estate agents have sent round. There’s no real need to get them involved at all. I don’t even care how much it even goes for now, the principle is more important. I wanted to prove I could sell my house for ten days myself on eBay and in ten days I will have done just that.
Wow. I can't believe one family that just turned up with their sarnies to lounge in his pool. WTF?! Some people have no shame. It's a pretty epic house so I have no doubt that Chris will gain a lot of interest, but whether it goes for the 590k estimated value, remains to be seen.
I know he says he doesn't care what it sells for now but come on, no one is that rich that they can afford to basically give away their family home. The bidding is currently at just over £1,000 with 9 days left to go. I can't see Chris going through with it but I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, if you fancy nabbing yourself a 5/6 bedroom house with a gym and pool in Hayfield, Derbyshire, head over to eBay.
