Philadelphia Phillies fan injured after she was hit in the face by flying hotdog
Going to a baseball game is supposed to be a fun and more importantly 'safe' event. You expect to leave with your spirits high, or maybe a cool t-shirt fired from a cannon, not a freakin black eye.
That's what Philadelphia Phillies fan Kathy McVay was treated to after she was hit square in the face by a flying hotdog. Honestly, you can't make this stuff up. Kathy was watching Phillies play the St Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia when the Phillies' mascot, Phillie Phanatic, began riding around the field on his hot dog launcher. It's a regular occurance for Phillie Phanatic to fire hotdogs from his cannon but poor old Kathy just wasn't quick enough with batting away the flying sausage.
Kathy said the hotdog hit her like a tonne of bricks and sent her glasses flying. She ended up with a haemotoma in one eye as well as swelling and bruising to the side of her face. Amazingly, she isn't planning to sue the club. How very un-American of her.
