Snoop Dogg invests $10 million in British weed company along with Patrick Stewart
Everyone knows Snoop Dogg is a huge fan of weed, and now he's taken his love for the plant a little further by investing $10 million in a British weed company.
Snoop Dogg's venture capitalist firm, Casa Verde Capital, invested the money in Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies (OCT), a biopharmaceutical firm that looks into technological advancements through cannabis. The money Snoop invested will go towards helping OCT set up a lab in Europe. OCT said:
The capital raised by the deal with Casa Verde Capital will be used to establish a strategic research partnership and laboratory in Europe.This will support OCT's research into the mechanisms of cannabinoids in order to develop treatments that improve the quality of life for millions of patients around the world.Institutional involvement in OCT adds further impetus and credibility to the fast-growing medical cannabis market.
What's even more surprising is that English gent and legendary actor, Sir Patrick Strewart is also an investor of the company. Patrick uses cannabis to help with his arthritis and will serve on OCT’s Advisory Board. He said:
I am proud to become the patron of OCT. It's wonderful that OCT have got together the funding that means that Britain will lead the way in what is, in my view, one of the world's most exciting fields of medical research. The possibilities seem to me to be virtually limitless.
OCT was established in 2017 and the company are currently researching several new areas including treatments for cancer, pain management, inflammatory diseases and a neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s and MS. It's pretty bloody exciting. If I had a few million quid I'd be investing too.
