Trump offered NASA unlimited funding to send humans to Mars by 2020
It’s just been revealed that the clown of the U.S Donald Trump offered NASA unlimited funding to get humans to Mars by 2020, which as you know, might have been a tad optimistic.
Apparently this all went down during Trumps first year in office, where he asked the acting NASA administrator whether the space agency would be able to send a crewed mission to Mars by the end of his first term if he offered unlimited funding. According to ‘Team of Vipers,’ Here’s what trump said:
But what if I gave you all the money you could ever need to do it? What if we sent NASA’s budget through the roof, but focused entirely on that instead of whatever else you’re doing now. Could it work then?
According to the New York Magazine’s summary of events, Trump offered NASA the money on April 24th, 2017, just moments before making a call to the International Space Station to congratulate astronaut Peggy Whitson for breaking the existing record for the American who had spent the longest period of time in space.
Apparently Trump’s mind began to wander during a briefing by officials, including acting NASA administrator Robert Lightfoot Jr. Thays when Trump interjected and he suddenly asked “What’s our plan for Mars?” Lightfoot then reportedly tried to “let Trump down easily,” explaining the insane amount of prep that a mission like that needed. He went on to say that NASA’s timetable for a human flight to Mars called for a mission in the 2030s. No doubt that would’ve got Trump fairly agitated, seeing as he’s not a guy who likes being told ‘no’.
Who wants to make a bet that Trump is currently building a home-made rocket in his back garden so he can prove the experts wrong?!
