Chris Lilley teases a Mr G spin-off series!
When Summer Heights High first hit our screens in 2007, people went nuts for Chris Lilly’s incredibly detailed characters, Ja'mie, Jonah and Mr G. Lilley’s characters were so well written and well received that Ja’mie and Jonah went on to get their own spin-off shows. I always wondered why Mr G didn’t get his own show but after Lilley’s recent Reddit Ask Me Anything thread, it looks like he may have just been biding his time.
During the Ask Me Anything, one person asked Lilley if he would ever do a Mr G spin-off and he replied, saying:
Yeah probs. They'll all come back eventually.
Ok so it’s not a solid confirmation but I’m clutching onto it. When another person asked whether Lilley would bring back Summer Heights High in some way, shape or form, he replied with:
Yeah I loved that show too and would like to in some form. Ja'mie: Private School Girl and Jonah From Tonga were Summer Heights High spin offs but there could be more..."
Now that definitely sounds like a more solid confirmation right?! Lilley goes on to say:
There's something new on the way. But can't say yet.
He also said that a comedy tour might be on the cards in the the future but that he just needs to figure out how he could bring his characters to the stage. Well that’d be fucking awesome wouldn’t it. Come on Chris, give the fans what they want!
