Fyre Festival fraudster plans to organise virtual PYRT Festival
Who remember the shambolic Fyre Festival? It was advertised as the party of the century and tickets were endorsed by celebs including Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, and Bella Hadid. Not only was the event a huge flop but the organiser, Billy McFarland was jailed for multiple counts of fraud. Well it looks like Billy is out out of jail and is already putting in the wheels in motion for his new business plan - another event. Has this bellend learned nothing?! Billy’s upcoming venture ‘PYRT’ (pronounced 'pirate') was recently revealed on tiktok and will be a 'virtual immersive decentralised reality'. Billy McFarland goes on to explain:
PYRT is not a festival. It is not an event. And it's definitely not a metaverse. The main event will be held on a small, remote island with a handful of artists, content creators, entrepreneurs, and any of you guys who end up joining the PYRT crew.
Erm, this is all sounding a bit like a festival, Billy. McFarland added that you could even join in the fun remotely for just £200 with £50 of that going towards paying back the debts from Fyre Festival. So…who’s going?
