Giant huntsman spiders have officially made their way to the UK
There I was, minding my own business, drinking my coffee when I heard some terrifying news. It turns out that the humongous, hairy beasts that are usually native to Australia have now started appearing around parts of the UK.
The giant huntsman officially made its way to the UK after it was found in a shipping container from Japan. After the storage company worker alerted the RSPCA, animal collection officer Naemi Kilbey went to collect the hairy lil dude;
Quote: Workers who found the spider definitely thought it was a Friday the 13th jinx. I must admit I'd get a bit of a shock if I was unloading some stock and a huge Huntsman spider crawled out!
Although these spiders, usually from Australia, are large and can grow to more than 15cm in size, they are generally harmless. While a bite from one of these arachnids could cause some pain and discomfort, they are not a highly venomous spider.
At least they're not dangerous, only ugly. I can deal with that!
