Reports show that people in their 90s are loving cocaine!
I always assumed that people relax more in their old age and take up hobbies like knitting, gardening and pottering. However, I couldn’t be more wrong, because according to recent statistics by the NHS, old folks love getting bang on the gear!
A new NHS report has just revealed that ten people between the ages of 90 and 99 were admitted to hospital last year after experiencing mental health issues as a direct result of taking cocaine. The report also says that number of people over 60 being treated for the same issue has skyrocketed in the last decade from 45 to 379. Damn, there was me thinking old people were a right bunch of bores!
The report suggests that people are taking coke more due to the falling prices, easier availability and the increased purity of the drugs. They also reckon it’s because people are living longer these days. Well you can’t blame a 90-year-old for wanting to keep the party going.
Dr Emily Finch from the Royal College of Psychiatrists is pretty worried about the whole situation:
Many people don’t realise that cocaine use can cause mental health problems, resulting in people becoming so unwell they need to be admitted to hospital.
Since when does coke cause mental health problems?! Is that a thing?! I think loosing your marbles in your old age is pretty standard and not necessarily down to hooning a couple of lines. Calm down doctor! Let those old folks go out with a bang!
